Diego Forlan and Patrice Evra are two of five ex-Manchester United players accept. For the ‘Legends of the North’ clash with Liverpool.

The Manchester United legends, headed by Brian Robson, will meet Liverpool Legends at Old Trafford on May 21 in a special ‘Legend’ game. S of the North’ Forlan and Evra accepted into the competition, along with John O’Shea, Mikael Silvest and Karel Poborski.

Speaking to MUFC media, Forlan said: “I have said for a long time that I need to return to Old Trafford, but I didn’t think it would be as a player. It will be an honour to step back out on to the pitch and see the fans again who have continued to chant my name for all these years.
